HIGH SCHOOL, VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER, AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE UNDER ONE ROOF.
WHEN THE TRADITIONAL PATH MEETS APPRENTICESHIP.
A pioneer in apprenticeship training thanks to its on-site apprenticeship training center and technical facilities, Lycée Sainte-Claire offers the option between a traditional academic track or an apprenticeship track through blended classes starting in the first year of vocational studies.
Students who have completed 9th grade or who have taken the 9th-grade vocational preparatory program at Sainte-Claire Vocational High School will continue their studies toward a vocational baccalaureate or, in certain fields, a CAP.
The second year of vocational training and the first year of the CAP program are part of the initial academic curriculum toensure that studentsare well-prepared in the fundamentals of general and vocational education.
Starting in the first year of vocational school or the second year of the CAP program, students may choose to continue with traditional schooling or pursue an apprenticeship. This decision is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the student’s academic performance, personal commitment to their education, and future aspirations, in consultation with the family and following input from the entire educational team.
In both cases, the BAC Pro can be followed by a BTS apprenticeship program, and certain tracks may also be supplemented by a Mention Complémentaire (MC) or a Titre à Finalité Professionnelle (TFP)
AN IDEAL LOCATION.
Located in Sury-le-Comtal, in the heart of the Forez Plain and within an employment area that aligns with the training programs offered there, the Sainte-Claire High School and Apprenticeship Training Center is easily accessible from throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region thanks to the Loire’s extensive intercity transportation network.
We also have a boarding school with 84 beds that can accommodate students from all over France, and we offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a self-service and cafeteria-style setting.
INDUSTRY, Electricity, and Energy: High-Value-Added Sectors!
Although often overlooked or underappreciated, certain fields of study can lead to significant professional success in careers that are in high demand nationwide—and especially in our region.
Over the years, we have forged strong partnerships with the region’s major economic players, who are constantly seeking skilled workers but struggle to recruit them due to a shortage of candidates.
This is the case, for example, with industrial maintenance trades, which prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities: industrial mechanic, production line or machine tool operator, and robotics installer/repair technician. These fields encompass mechanics, home automation, electricity, pneumatics, and computer science—all skills that make technicians versatile and highly sought-after in the job market.
Jobs facing labor shortages…
Who hasn’t struggled to find an electrician, plumber, or heating technician when something breaks down at home? It’s so hard because the ones who are currently working are swamped and can’t take on any new clients!
In these fields, you can advance to roles ranging from entry-level worker to site supervisor—and who knows, you might even end up running your own business!
In the MELEC vocational baccalaureate program, students are trained in the electrical trades as well as in all related connected systems. Often mistakenly equated with the former Electrotechnology BAC, the BAC Pro MELEC opens up many more career paths: electrician, of course, but also home automation specialist (gates, security, alarm, and fire systems), network installer, telephone technician, fiber-optic technician, and more—there is no shortage of career opportunities!
The same applies to the BAC Pro TMSEC, the school’s energy program: you can become a plumber, a heating and air conditioning technician, a heating systems installer, a refrigeration technician, or a solar panel installer; you can help implement innovative energy solutions for buildings that are more environmentally friendly and cost-effective; and you can find a job in booming fields that are at the forefront of future concerns.
Like all our programs, these two vocational diplomas also provide a pathway to a BTS degree for those who wish to further their education and specialize.
Vehicle Maintenance Careers
While they may not be facing a labor shortage, careers in automotive and motorcycle maintenance are still in high demand! Often described as “passion-driven careers,” they have become much more technical over the years and require a wide range of skills.
Working on a vehicle today requires proficiency with a wide range of digital and computer tools. In addition to a mechanic’s traditional tools, one must be able to use and understand technologies that are constantly evolving.
The emergence of hybrid vehicles and the significant growth in the number of electric vehicles in recent years mean that our future mechanics will need to develop much more advanced technical skills.
The BAC Pro in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance (MVA) can be supplemented with a BTS and CQP certifications to lead to a qualification as an expert technician.
In preparation for the launch of the Automotive BTS program in 2020, the high school has invested significant financial resources in technical facilities, particularly in the purchase of educational models that enable students to learn through simulation.
The Sainte-Claire High School and Vocational Training Center receives financial support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region for its capital investments, certain extracurricular activities, and to cover the costs of apprentices without apprenticeship contracts.
